On August 22, 2022, the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. (USBC), in partnership with Grubhub and the USBC Community Economic Development Corporation, announced the launch of their new restaurant grant program.

The USBC restaurant grant program helps restaurants receive funding to address business opportunities and current challenges. The fund, made possible by the Grubhub Community Fund, will support over $500,000 in grants to Black-owned restaurants and culinary-based businesses in select cities like New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Chicago and more. 

About the grant

The USBC Restaurant Grant Program helps Black-owned restaurants receive funding to seize business opportunities and address current challenges. The partnership aims to give access to capital and resources to ensure competitiveness in a changing post COVID-19 restaurant landscape including new technology, equipment, staff incentives, and building enhancements

The program will offer over $500,000 in grants to Black-owned restaurants and culinary-based businesses in select cities like New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Baltimore.

Application submission for restaurants in New York closes Friday, September 16, 2022, with roll outs to select markets will continue over the next six months. For those interested in participating, please visit https://usblackchambers.org/grubhub/ to apply.

100+ Black-owned businesses will receive between $2,500 – $10,000

22 restaurants will be selected to receive $5,000 in grant funds from each city and 1 lucky restaurant from each city will receive $10,000.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Business must operate in the U.S.
  • Your business must have launched PRIOR to July 1, 2021
  • Business must be legal and for-profit
  • Your business generated at least $10,000 in revenue since January 2021
  • Able to provide revenue documentation
  • You were at least 18 years old on June 30, 2020
  • You identify as Black or African-American
  • You have a certified Black-owned business and/or are 51% Black-owned
